LACIS Internship Grants

LACIS majors can receive one-time funds for internships in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Iberian Peninsula or domestic internships related to the LACIS field of study. The internships will be carried out in public institutions or well established NGOs. Current Undergraduate students from any nationality and citizenship who have already declared a LACIS major are eligible. Seniors about to graduate can apply in their last semester and start the internship immediately following graduation. Please check with the LACIS advisor about internship plans before submitting an application.

Deadlines are as follows:

(Note: Applications may be considered at other times in special circumstances.)

The application package must include the following documentation:

  1. Letter of Intent (maximum 2 pages, typed, double space)
  2. Letter of acceptance from hosting institution
  3. Budget with estimated expenses
  4. Printout of Grade Report; GPA minimum 3.50
  5. Complete language requirements for the LACIS major, or certification of language proficiency
  6. One letter of recommendation from a UW faculty associated with the topic/area/field as pertains to the internship

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Final Report

A brief 2 page long final report relating your experiences and tasks is due within a month of the completion of the internship.
