Intensive Ecuadorian Quichua

General Description

This is an intensive program (beginning, intermediate and advanced) of Runa Shimi or Quichua Language offered to students who want to learn this language living in a Quichua community in Ecuador. The program offers two intensive sessions. Each session will be three and a half weeks of intensive learning in class as well as directed activities in the community. The program has the purpose to combine the language classes and key conferences on culture and history of Andean peoples. In coordination with Arizona State University Field School this course includes a visit to the Ecuadorian lowlands. Graduate students who are U.S. citizens are encouraged to apply for Foreign Language and Area Studies Summer Fellowships. Faculty include Armando Muyolema and Anthropologist Frank Hutchins, PhD.
