Nave Faculty Publication Supplement

The Nave Faculty Publication Supplement is designed to provide a modest subvention for completed manuscripts by faculty working on Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain or Portugal. Support will be provided to help meet publication costs of original manuscripts or occasionally to support translation of an original work into another language; projects that are themselves translations will not be supported. All things being equal, special consideration will be given to applications from junior faculty.

Funds are drawn from the Nave Professorship Account for a total of $6,000 per year, providing a maximum of $2,000 per grant. The Nave Committee will review the Faculty Publication Supplement five years after its inception.

Applications must include a statement by the author, a departmental nomination letter, and in the case of junior faculty, another letter of endorsement from a senior faculty member. The statement by the author must address the relevance of the manuscript for the study of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain or Portugal. Each department can nominate no more than two projects per year. An updated curriculum vitae of the author should be included as well.

Complete applications must reach the LACIS office by Friday January 30, 2004 in order to be considered by the entire Nave Committee in its February meeting.

Please send one original application and nine copies; the office will not make copies for you.

Submit your application to the LACIS Program office. The address and other contact information can be found on the How to Contact LACIS page.
