Other LACIS Faculty Grants

Special Symposia, Conferences

These are major, one-time events whose initiators may apply to the Nave Committee, as well as other relevant university bequest committees, for financial support. Consult the office if you want to develop a proposal for the Nave Committee to consider.

Nave Research Internship Award

Provides Project Assistantship banks for distinguished middle-to-senior rank faculty. Competitions are held once every two years. This competition is not expected to be held in the foreseeable future.

Short-Term Nave Faculty Research Grant

This category is difficult to fund, given the squeeze on the Nave Fund. Intended for faculty or academic staff whose rank renders them ineligible for funding by the Tinker-Nave Summer Field Grant Program, or whose projects are inappropriate for the Graduate School competitions, the Nave Committee will, funds permitting, consider short-term research assistance for travel to Latin America or the Iberian peninsula. Round-trip airfare and a 30-day per diem are the maximum allotment available. Proposals are reviewed directly by the Nave Committee. Consult the LACIS Program Director if you need advice. Contact information is available on the Program Staff Page.

Nave Faculty Publication Supplement

The Nave Faculty Publication Supplement is designed to provide a modest subvention for completed manuscripts by faculty working on Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain or Portugal.

Grants for Travel to Professional Meetings

These grants are intended to promote faculty participation in professional meetings and to advance professional exchange and the dissemination of Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies research.

John Leddy Phelan Award

Recognition of distinguished interdisciplinary service by faculty or academic staff. Call for nominations in early Spring. Executive Committee decides.
