Special Symposia, Conferences:
These are major, one-time events related to research in or about Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain or Portugal, whose initiators may apply to the Nave Committee, as well as other relevant university bequest committees, for financial support. The typical conference/workshop grant ranges from $1000 to $3000. The committee strongly encourages applicants to seek additional funding from other sources in order to strengthen their request. Nave Faculty Publication Supplement
The Nave Faculty Publication Supplement is designed to provide a modest subvention for completed manuscripts by faculty working on Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain or Portugal.
Grants for Travel to Professional Meetings
*3/15: Please note that due to budget constraints, we will only be accepting applications for up to two individuals for up to $800/each wishing to attend LASA 2015. These awards will be granted a on a first-come, first-served basis.*
These grants are intended to promote faculty participation in professional meetings and to advance professional exchange and the dissemination of Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies research. You may find the LACIS Faculty Travel Grant Application here.
John Leddy Phelan Award
Recognition of distinguished interdisciplinary service by faculty or academic staff. Call for nominations in early Spring. Executive Committee decides.
Funding for Academic Memberships
In order to support relevant academic research of faculty and students, Tinker-Nave will provide funding for approved memberships. Awards will be granted for a maximum of two years (not to exceed $500) after which grantees must resubmit their proposals to a review committee who will determine the viability of renewal. All requests will be granted contingent upon funding. The review committee encourages applicants to seek co-sponsorship from other units on campus to strengthen his/her proposal.
